3rd week

Every week in Sweeneys class we have to write a blog about what is going on in class, everyday life, or just anything we would like to talk about. Earlier in the week, we talked about ethos, pathos, and logos. It kind of confused me as Sweeney was explaining them but I caught on a little more as he talked more about it. Ethos is the writers image or character and it comes from the word ethics. Pathos is the emotions of the reader or audience. Logos is the arguments in a story and this can also have some emotion in it as well. All three of these are meant to persuade the reader to try and believe or think how the writer does. They are not as interesting as most things but they do stand a valid point on argumentative papers and speeches.

Today I walked into the classroom thinking how I was going to do my grammer shmammer with my English group. We were soposed to go today and we had everything ready to teach the class. But, Sweeney forgot to do it so we got postponed until next Thursday. I am kind of glad we have a whole week before we have to do it because I was pretty nervous. I do not do well standing in front of people talking. So instead of presenting our project, we talked about topics we could write about for our first paper on pop culture. This ended up to the difference between counrty and rap music and why some people will not let their kids listen to rap but they can listen to country. This became a very heated arguement in the class. When Sweeney finally let us go I was glad to get out of there so I could get away from all the arueing and go on to math class. This was my third week in Sweeneys class and we will see what else comes in the future.

  1. yeah the ethos logos and pathos, are not that interesting and you have a point it does have a very good stand point on argumentative papers. The country and rap discussion did get very heated but it seems like that class is the most interesting out of the rest

  2. I thought it was hilarious when everyone was stating their point of view on the music thing, it is so much more interesting than having a strict teacher who wouldn't let us talk about such things. &this blog helped me understand ethos, logos, pathos much better! thanks krista!
